LisaNova is a hilarious comedian discovered on YouTube (also now on MadTv). This week she posted this LOL video spoofing how YouTube has become saturated with videos with teasers or still shots of women’s cleavage. Often the most popular videos each day have still shots of women’s breasts. (See here and here) It’s hard for other YouTubers to get their videos watched if the women’s cleavage shots get the most viewed.
So here comes LisaNova to the rescue, offering her services — and even clips of her breasts — for other YouTubers to use in their own videos. The video is a riot, but it’s even crazier that LisaNova is serious about offering free clips of her breasts for others to download and incorporate into their own user-generated videos. Her cleavage clips can be downloaded from her site.
I’m not a scientist, but this is pretty good visual proof for me.
Wow. Mind-blowing performance from this Australian pianist Suzanna Hlinka. Outstanding.
This is one of my own. I hope you like it. If you would like to see my prior selections for video of the week, visit here.
I know the owners of these two puppies. They shamelessly dote on their dogs like there’s no tomorrow. Can you blame them?
That1guywhosings, a YouTuber, made this video of Ingrid Michaelson’s “Breakable.” He got the images from Getty and showed the video to Ingrid, who said she liked it.
This synchronization of photos to the music is simply outstanding. And I can’t get enough of this song.
You may have noticed on the right hand side that I’ve inserted a banner ad to “Support Creative Commons.” It’s the first (and so far only) ad I’ve put on this site. (Please click on the banner.)
As this video explains, Creative Commons is an organization started by Professor Lawrence Lessig, someone whom I was lucky enough to have met and worked with for several years while at Stanford. Larry is one of those rare, amazingly brilliant individuals who single-handedly transform the whole terms of a debate. He’s done that for the Internet and copyright issues. The basic mission of Creative Commons is to make it easier for everyone to share works and to give/get copyright permission with the tagging of a work ahead of time (so basically you don’t need to make elaborate efforts–like locating and writing the copyright holder–to get permission to use copyrighted works). This blog has a Creative Commons license on the right hand column below.
Each year, Creative Commons must raise money from contributions, in order to qualify for 501(c)(3) status as a tax-exempt, charitable nonprofit organization. I hope you consider giving to this worthy cause. Donate on the CC site.
Al Gore won the Oscar this year for “An Inconvenient Truth.” Today, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to raise awareness about the need to stop global warming. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, you owe it to yourself to do so.
UPDATE: The San Francisco Chronicle has a video of Gore speaking yesterday (unfortunately, it’s not on YouTube and the Chronicle’s video takes longer to download). At the end, the crowd erupted into chants of, “Run, Al, run. Run, Al, run.” And they weren’t talking about his fitness.
Catchy song from Renetto (who used to sing in a band in his former life).
“High School Musical 2″ debuted this week. If you don’t have kids, you may not be aware that this Disney franchise is a mega-hit, selling more albums in 2006 than any other (even American Idol stars). The debut of the sequel this week received 17 million viewers on Disney, the most ever for a cable show. Wow, now that’s impressive. “High School Musical” stars Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Tisdale. (I finally know who Ashley Tisdale is, ’cause I’ve seen her YouTube videos before.)
I’m more intrigued by the fact that clips from “High School Musical” are some of the most watched clips on YouTube, dating back close to one year. Disney doesn’t seem to mind these postings by third parties on YouTube since they haven’t asked for their removal. It might well be that Disney doesn’t want to alienate all the teenagers and young kids who are posting these videos of “High School Musical” on YouTube out of their sheer fanaticism for the movie.
Guy steals laptop. Caught on video. Video posted on YouTube. And then: According to a New Zealand paper, “One viewer recognized the man [on YouTube] and alerted police. Dawson Anthony Bliss, 50, was convicted of theft in Greymouth District Court on Thursday after pleading guilty.” (More)
