Only because his trendy twats told him to, and so that he could ape a british version of the American state of the union and weekly radio address.
Remember, he never even got much of a hold on using email.
While there’s some conceit behind cameron, he was working at carlton when the internet was taking off, and is simply younger.
I’ll start believing any of these politicians web-savvyness when they start having real blogs that they actually check and reply to (same problem at the bbc) even if its only a few sentences a day -if people from scoble to sorrell can provide direct real email adresses, it’s only ignorance or lazyness that means others can’t
